Heart mazes
A heart maze is a square-grid maze carved to fill a heart outline, so the shape reads before the puzzle does. Pick a size, generate, and print it with the solved route on the second page.
A coding path turns the maze into a write-the-arrows worksheet.
The maze fills the silhouette.
Ages 7–10
This one reads hard rather than easy.
A true maze: one way through, and wrong turns stop dead.
The route has to pass through every one.
How the passages wind. Each one has its own texture to solve.
Customise colours
Bold and chunky are the large-print settings.
A faint grid behind the walls, for the youngest solvers.
Clean drops the title band and footer, leaving the maze.
Two pages: the maze and its answer. The answer is worked out from the maze itself rather than drawn alongside it, so it can never be wrong. Same engine as our KDP studio.

What a heart maze is good for
This is the shape people print for a reason rather than for practice: Valentine cards, a class handout in February, a page in a wedding activity book for children at the reception. The maze is the gift, so it wants to be solvable in a few minutes rather than impressive.
Small or medium is usually right. A heart at the giant setting is a beautiful object and a forty-minute job, which is the wrong trade for something tucked inside a card.
Printing it on a card
The free tool prints at 8.25 by 11 inches, which folds down to a quarter-page card cleanly. Turn the start and finish marks off if the arrows clutter the shape, and turn wall thickness up one step so the outline still reads after the page is reduced.

Picture shape
A square-grid maze carved to fill a silhouette: a heart, a star, a crescent moon, a cat, a tree.
- How it solves
- It solves like a square maze, but the outline does half the work for you. A corridor that runs into the tip of a star has nowhere to go, so the shape itself rules out whole branches once you learn to read it.
- Good for
- Cards, classroom handouts and anything that has to look like a gift.
The other shapes
- four ways out of every junctionRectangularA grid of squares with walls between them, an arrow going in at one corner and an arrow coming out at another.
- six ways out of every cellHexagonalA honeycomb of six-sided cells. The corridors run in six directions rather than four, so the paths slant as well as turn.
- three ways out of every cellTriangularTriangles pointing up and down in alternating rows, so the corridors run diagonally across the page.
- four ways out, but two of them curveCircularConcentric rings cut into wedges, with a gap in the outer rim to enter by and a small circle at the middle to reach.

Questions
- Can I print a heart maze on a card?
- Yes. Print the maze page, fold it to a quarter page, and the heart sits in the middle. Turning the start and finish arrows off and the wall thickness up one step keeps the outline crisp once the page is folded down.
- Are these heart mazes free to print?
- Yes. Generate the maze above and print it with its answer, at no cost and with no sign-up. It is free for classroom, home and personal use.
- Is there exactly one way through?
- Yes. The maze is carved as a spanning tree, which means every square is reachable and exactly one route joins any two of them. The answer page draws that route, found by searching the maze itself rather than drawn alongside it.
- Can I make a maze book to sell on KDP?
- Yes. The free tool makes one maze. Publisher Studio generates hundreds of graded mazes in one shape, with an optional how-to-solve page, at any KDP trim, as a print-ready 300 DPI interior and a matching solutions PDF.
