What do I get when I export?

Are the puzzles guaranteed to have one solution?

Yes, and it is the thing to check when you compare thermometers books. Every board is proved to fill exactly one way before it enters the book, which the large majority of tilings would not.

How are the thermometers drawn?

Each one is a single outline, the bulb and the tube in one shape rather than a circle laid over a bar, so there is no seam anywhere along it. The bulb is drawn much wider than the tube, because it is the only thing on the page that says which end the mercury rises from, and the faint grid rules stay visible inside a tube so a reader can count a long one.

Is it the same as a nonogram?

No, though both count filled squares along rows and columns. A nonogram gives you the runs in a line and leaves you to place them anywhere in it; here the runs are drawn on the board and the only unknown is how far along each one the mercury reaches. It is much gentler, and a good second puzzle type for a nonogram audience. We publish both.
