The KDP maze maker
Hundreds of graded mazes in one shape, at any KDP trim, as a print-ready interior and a matching solutions PDF. The difficulty is measured, not guessed.
How it works
- 1Choose the book. Pick the shape every maze is carved on, how many you want at each grade, and the trim you are publishing at. A graded book climbs from easy to evil page by page; a mixed one interleaves them.
- 2Generate. The studio carves every maze, solves it, and measures the result. A page that does not earn its grade is re-rolled rather than printed, so "hard" means the same thing on page 3 and page 97.
- 3Export. Two print-ready 300 DPI PDFs: the interior and the solutions. Generate once, export at as many trims as you like.
What you can build
- 5 shapes, 12 of them picture silhouettes
- Square, hexagonal, triangular and circular grids, plus mazes carved inside a heart, a star, a crescent moon or a cat. A shape is a different book, not a preference. It is what makes a listing image worth clicking.
- 11 corridor textures
- Long winding rivers, bushy dead ends, rooms and halls, or a deliberately simple diagonal drift for a toddler’s book. Texture is what difficulty feels like on paper, so it is a setting rather than a default.
- Difficulty that is measured
- Size is not difficulty. A big grid whose route runs down one edge is an easy page, so every maze is measured on how far its route travels and how deep its wrong turns go, and re-rolled if it does not earn the grade on its page.
- Large print, properly
- For a maze, large print is thicker walls and wider corridors rather than bigger type. It is a setting, and it is the fastest-growing format on the shelf.
Questions
- How many mazes can one book have?
- As many as the trim and page count allow. A 120-page book is a normal maze book, and the studio will generate every page of it. The solutions pack six to a sheet at the back.
- Are the answer keys reliable?
- They are provable, which is unusual. A maze is carved as a spanning tree, so exactly one route joins the entrance and the exit, and the key is that route found by searching the maze itself. The key cannot disagree with the puzzle because it is derived from it.
- Can I make a large-print maze book?
- Yes, and it is worth doing. Large print is the fastest-growing format in puzzle books. For a maze it means thicker walls and wider corridors rather than bigger type, so the studio exposes wall weight as a setting alongside the trim.
- Do I own what I make?
- Yes. The mazes and the PDFs are yours to publish and sell. There is no royalty and no attribution requirement.
