Answer

How many pages should a planner have?

Updated 23 September 2026

It depends on the layout. A monthly planner is about 30 to 40 pages, a weekly planner across 52 weeks lands near 110 to 150 pages with extras, and a page-a-day daily planner runs past 365, so daily planners usually cover a quarter, not a year.

The layout sets the count, and the count sets the print cost, the spine and the gutter margin. The gutter widens at 151 and 301 pages, so a weekly planner that stays under 150 keeps its binding margin at the narrowest and every spread its full width. A daily page-per-day planner crosses both thresholds, which is one reason most daily planners cover a quarter instead of a year.

In Publisher Studio you pick the date range and the extras (a year-at-a-glance, goal pages, a habit tracker, notes), and it evens the total and sizes the gutter and spine from the real count. For the full walkthrough, read how to make and sell planners on KDP.
