What size should a KDP crossword book be?

The most popular crossword trims are 6 by 9 inches for a standard book and 8.5 by 11 inches for large print. Large print sells well because, by default, the clue text stays at 14pt or above on a large-print trim, which is easy to read.
Pick a trim size by audience: 6 by 9 is compact and cheap to print, while 8.5 by 11 gives a big grid and roomy clue list for the large-print market. You can export the same book at any trim without regenerating.
By default Publisher Studio fits the clue text to the page and never drops below 14pt on a large-print trim (you can pin a smaller size if you choose), and it warns before export if a list will not fit, so the interior passes KDP review and stays readable.
