## How to make a Number Blocks puzzle

1. Pick a difficulty. Choose a grid size. Larger grids give the logic more room, so they take longer to solve.
2. Generate the puzzle. Press Generate puzzle. You get a fresh grid, proved to have exactly one solution.
3. Print the two pages. Press Print / save PDF. You get two pages: the puzzle on page one and its answer on page two.

## How to solve number blocks

Fill each outlined block of k cells with the numbers 1 to k, and never let two equal digits touch, even diagonally.

### The method

1. Size each block. A block of three cells holds 1, 2, 3; a block of five holds 1 to 5. Count the cells to know its digits.
2. Place the givens. Start from the printed digits and the small blocks, where there are fewest choices.
3. Watch the neighbours. A digit blocks that same digit from all eight surrounding cells, so a placed number rules out its neighbours.
4. Work block by block. Fill a block with its missing digits so none clashes with a touching cell, then move to the next.

**The one rule**

Each block holds 1 to its size, and equal digits never touch.
