# Free printable Straights with answers

Straights, also called Str8ts, splits each row and column with black cells into runs: every run of white cells is a set of consecutive numbers in any order, and digits never repeat in a line. Every puzzle here has exactly one solution.

Size is what makes a Straights harder: a bigger grid gives the logic more room. Start small and work up.

## One answer, every time

What makes a Straights book worth printing is the guarantee most sellers cannot make: every puzzle is generated and proved by the same solver our Publisher Studio uses, so the clues fix exactly one solution. The answer prints at the back.

## How to solve straights

Fill the white cells so every row and column holds distinct digits, and each run of white cells between the black cells is a set of consecutive numbers.

### The method

1. Spot the runs. The black cells split each row and column into runs. A run of three white cells holds three consecutive numbers in any order.
2. Use the length. A run of length L can only hold numbers within a window L wide, so its highest and lowest digits are L apart.
3. Respect the whole line. Digits never repeat across a full row or column, and a black clue digit is excluded from the white cells of its line.
4. Narrow the windows. A given digit fixes a run’s window. Cross rows against columns until each cell has one option.

**The one rule**

Distinct digits per line, and each run a set of consecutive numbers.

**What the answer page shows**

The completed grid is printed at the back.

**How the grades differ**

Bigger grids bring longer runs and fewer givens.

**Good for**

Solvers who like sudoku with a twist.
