# Privacy Policy

Effective 18 August 2026

Once Books is operated by **Jagodana LLC, a company based in Wyoming, USA** (“we”), the controller of your data. This is a plain-language summary of how we handle it. Because this is a product about children, we’d rather be specific than reassuring — including about the parts we’re still finalising before launch.

## 1. What we collect

- **Account details** — your email and name, handled through our authentication provider.
- **What you create with** — the photos, story text, and character details you upload to make a book.
- **Your books** — the generated pages and finished books stored for you.
- **Basic technical data** — logs needed to run and secure the service.

## 2. How we use it

We use your content only to provide the service — to generate your book, store it for you, and deliver your exports — and to keep the product running and safe. That’s it.

We **never use your photos or content to train AI models**. This isn’t only a promise: our system refuses, in code, to send a child’s reference images to any AI provider that trains on user data. We also never sell your data.

## 3. Who we share it with

We rely on a small set of service providers to run the product — for hosting, AI image and text generation, safety moderation, and payments — each under contract and only for their specific job. Our AI providers are contractually prohibited from training on your content.

Our authentication and billing provider **never receives your photographs or book images** — that boundary is built into how the product is designed. The current list is on our [subprocessors](https://www.oncebooks.com/subprocessors/) page, which names each sensitive-tier provider as its agreement is signed.

## 4. Cookies and our website

Our marketing website runs **no cookies and no tracking until you agree to them**. Nothing is stored on your device and no third party is contacted before you make a choice — ignoring the banner counts as no.

If you do consent, we may load a small set of well-known services, each as its own separate opt-in: Google Analytics (to see which pages are read), Microsoft Clarity (a masked, anonymised replay that hides your text and inputs), a Meta advertising pixel, and the Crisp live-chat widget. You can turn any of these on or off, or reject them all, from **Cookie settings** in the footer. The [cookie policy](https://www.oncebooks.com/cookies/) always lists exactly what is running today, what each one stores, and for how long.

## 5. Children’s data

A child’s photo is the most sensitive thing we handle. It’s used only to build that child’s book, never to train models, and finished books are private by default. We ask you to confirm you’re the child’s parent or guardian, or have their permission — and we can’t verify that for you, so we say so plainly. The full account is on [child safety](https://www.oncebooks.com/child-safety/).

## 6. How long we keep it

You can delete your photos and books at any time, and we’ll remove them. We’re finalising automatic retention windows (so unused data doesn’t linger) before launch, and this policy will state them precisely when they’re set.

## 7. Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the data we hold about you — just email [privacy@oncebooks.com](mailto:privacy@oncebooks.com). Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights; we’re finalising how we serve users outside the US and will update this policy accordingly.

## 8. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and signed, unguessable links for anything shared. No system is perfect, which is why deletion is always in your hands.

## 9. Changes and contact

If we make a material change we’ll update the effective date above and take reasonable steps to tell you. For any privacy question or request, contact [privacy@oncebooks.com](mailto:privacy@oncebooks.com).
