## How to use a monthly planner

A month on a calendar grid, one box per day, for the big picture rather than the hour.

### Step by step

1. Read the month as a grid. Each row is a week and each column a weekday. The month can start the week on Monday or Sunday, so match it to how you plan.
2. Mark dates, not detail. Write birthdays, deadlines and events in their box. Keep the fine detail for a weekly or daily page.
3. Plan the shape of the month. Scan the grid to see busy weeks and free ones before they arrive, then plan the big things around them.
