## How to use Cornell notes

A page split into three: a narrow cue column on the left, a wide notes area on the right, and a summary strip along the bottom.

### Step by step

1. Take notes in the wide column. During the lesson or reading, write in the large right-hand area only. Keep it to the main points.
2. Add cues on the left afterwards. Later, write questions or keywords in the narrow left column that match the notes beside them.
3. Summarise at the bottom. In the strip along the foot, write one or two lines that capture the page. Cover the notes and answer the cues to revise.

**Why the layout works**

The cue column turns your notes into a self-test, which is why Cornell paper beats plain lines for study.
