About

# We build books that look like one book

Once Books makes personalised children’s books where your child is the hero and stays recognisable on every page. We started it because most AI books can’t do that: the child on page one is a stranger by page four.

## What Once Books is

A personalised children’s book service. You add a few photos of your child, choose a story and one of 24 art styles, and we generate a picture book starring them, the same face, the same style, cover to back. It’s yours to read on any device, or to download as a print-ready PDF (professional printing coming soon).

## Why we started

Image models are stateless. They don’t remember what they drew a moment ago, so a naive AI book drifts: new face, new proportions, a different art style halfway through. We were tired of “personalised” books that didn’t look like the child, so we built the missing part: a way to keep one character recognisable across a whole book.

## What we made

A [Consistency Engine](https://www.oncebooks.com/glossary#consistency-engine), not a prompt. We lock a Character Sheet and an Identity Sheet, then freeze a Style Profile onto the book. Every page is generated against all of it, so the hero stays the same child cover to back. If you want the mechanics, [how it works](https://www.oncebooks.com/how-it-works) walks through the four steps, and [art styles](https://www.oncebooks.com/styles) shows the 24 looks a book can take.

## The line we won’t cross

This is a product about children, so we hold a hard line on their likeness. Photos are used only to build the book, never to train AI. Books are private by default, and we’re honest about what we can’t guarantee. That stance is spelled out on [child safety](https://www.oncebooks.com/child-safety).

## Common questions

**What is Once Books?**

Once Books is a service that makes personalised children’s picture books. You add a few photos of your child, choose a story and an art style, and it generates a book where your child is the hero and stays recognisable on every page. It is a digital book you can read anywhere, or download as a print-ready PDF (professional printing coming soon).

**Is Once Books a bookshop?**

No. It doesn’t sell other people’s books. It makes one book, starring your child, from your photos and story.
